What is Wake on Lan?

Wake on LAN (WOL) allows sending a special message to wake up a computer or device from sleep mode. Note: this will only work if you enable WOL on your device.

What commands can I do?

You can only send a magic packet to MAC addresses on your local network. For this reason WOL only works if you are using Eddy Bridge, when using Eddy Voice Remote.

What’s a MAC address?

A MAC address is a  number identified by a manufacture and typically associated to a physical hardware. A MAC address will be something like: 00-14-22-01-23-45. Every network device has a unique MAC Address.

What are some problems with WOL?

Setting up Wake On LAN can be problematic because every manufacturer has different ways to enabling WOL. Also getting a MAC address requires technical knowledge to find your device’s MAC Address.

Guide to sending WOL commands via Eddy Bridge

  1. Setup Eddy Bridge (Go here).
  2. Make sure your device has WOL enabled and setup correctly.
    1. This is out of scope for this website. So, you have to do your own research.
  3. Add a WOL button by entering your device’s MAC address
