Wake on LAN (WOL)
What is Wake on Lan?
Wake on LAN (WOL) allows sending a special message to wake up a computer or device from sleep mode. Note: this will only work if you enable WOL on your device.
What commands can I do?
You can only send a magic packet to MAC addresses on your local network. For this reason WOL only works if you are using Eddy Bridge, when using Eddy Voice Remote.
What’s a MAC address?
A MAC address is a number identified by a manufacture and typically associated to a physical hardware. A MAC address will be something like: 00-14-22-01-23-45. Every network device has a unique MAC Address.
What are some problems with WOL?
Setting up Wake On LAN can be problematic because every manufacturer has different ways to enabling WOL. Also getting a MAC address requires technical knowledge to find your device’s MAC Address.
Guide to sending WOL commands via Eddy Bridge
- Setup Eddy Bridge (Go here).
- Make sure your device has WOL enabled and setup correctly.
- This is out of scope for this website. So, you have to do your own research.
- Add a WOL button by entering your device’s MAC address
